Looking through quite a few responses at this site I see how Bush was able to circumvent the entire system of Democracy. When we have people without a clue that the U.S. is supposed to be a government founded for the common good, for the people, BY the people, we get this mess. Of course pro-Bushites can holler about getting government out of our (their) lives. Do they want taxes going to the people who really need it or to their own pockets? Taxes are meant to serve US. Don't you get it? When all of us, as a group, pitch in together, we get a break. This is the principle, folks. Our money is collected to be spent for US. Over the course of a normal day, even you "tax and spend" spewers use government dollars in numerous ways.

Taxes could ensure that nobody would ever find themselves destitute over unexpected illness or crisis . Taxes could ensure our food is safe, our airways are safe, and, in general, improve the lives of all of us. However, the greedy and the stupid here will not let that prevail. The idea that Bush and his bunch do anything for the average person is ludicrous. Start following proposed legislation, people. It's there for you to see.If they mess up this country, they, and their wealthy friends, will flee to another location. But, one day, when they've fouled the air and destroyed the planet, their money won't buy them out.

Get this straight. Bush was not elected. The Supreme Court, in an unprecedented act of defying the will of the people, set GW in the White House. Looks treasonous to me. This guy, the boy-man who, on 9/11, when finally found, went before the cameras with the look of a substance abuser who badly needed his fix. On that day, our fears were realized. We saw a man completely out of his depth looking like a rabbit with his foot in the trap. Picture of courage---no way!

Bush came into office baiting hostile nations with warmongering rhetoric. He appeared to be asking for it. Maybe he hoped for another Grenada island invasion and phony victory. What he got, for all his blathering, was a genuine crisis and the necessity, as one person pointed out, to toady to those national leaders he'd just alienated.

And how about all those moralists who screamed bloody murder about Bill Clinton? Where are they now as Giulilani flaunts his illicit affair, taking his non-wife to functions without any Fallwell denunciations? Look up hypocrite if you don't get this. Bill Clinton is an amazingly smart man. So you dumb doofuses feel inferior. Too bad. Get over it. The purpose of a leader is to THINK first before acting. I can tell many of you were sweating 9/11 like me when I saw GW swaggeringly threaten immediate retaliation, finger itching to blow somebody up but not sure whom. What a cretin! And then, within a few days, the Bushites began their sneaky, low-lived attempts to push legislation through while everyone's minds were focused on the national tragedy. Tax breaks for the wealthy buddies, fossil fuel perks, etc. Business as usual. Let's not let sadness fog our eyes. These are heartless people. Have they called for CEO's to give up a fraction of their salaries so some people can keep their jobs? Hell no. They want the average Joe to spend, spend, spend, though his job may disappear. These are dark hours for the country. Ignorance is the enemy that can bring us down.We can be destroyed from within by not being vigilant.Let's not let it happen.This country our forefathers fought for deserves a leader who cares about the majority he serves. The term 'Banana Republicans' seems eerily apt to describe the state of affairs in this country today, and it worries me to the point where I can't sleep.

First, rig the election. Second, cause a disaster, thus creating an enemy. Third, impose marshal law. It worked for the Nazi's, and it's a scenario that has played itself out in the "third world" countless times. And now it has come to my beloved country. Speak out and never stop.

There is a point that I would like to make to all of those who have called you cowards for not using your real names. Since 1998 abortion clinics around the country have been terrorized with anthrax. So none of what we are going through now really seems new to them. The point being that there are terrorists in this country that are willing to kill someone for expressing their beliefs. So in my opinion, I think that it is prudent to take these murderous extremists into account when expressing your opinion, especially when it differs from that of what the monopolized legit press is already pedaling.

Unocal has a contract in Uzbekistan, which is home to more than 25% of the world's proven natural gas reserves. Unocal has a market for this gas in Pakistan and India. As he tried to think on his feet, his disconnected, rambling patchwork of half-memorized tapes made him resemble a caught fish thrashing and gasping for breath. I was embarrassed that the world would see, once again, how intellectually unsuited he is for his role. More than that, I was truly afraid. In times like these it is important to keep in mind that our leaders are just people too and - regardless of any promises to "Rid the world of evil" - are not embodied with any supernatural powers making them alway good and right. In times of crisis it is even more important to think about (and criticize) our leaders actions because they have more impact on our lives.

Well it's good to see that you are all under attack from 'patriotic' Americans for expressing your views in a democracy. I find it amusing the similarities between the communists in World War II and the Republican party who attempt to stifle any criticism of George Bush. Anyone who spoke badly of Stalin during the last war got shot, and it seems that Republicans would now like to adopt these communist ideals...

Maybe now is a time to be a bit more sensitive, but at the same time, G W Bush may lead the US into another Vietnam, or invite more terrorist attacks on the US. Those who didn't vote for him are under no obligation to support him now, not supporting a race war against Arabs (I see all Arabs are now bad according to some who contributed to this site), are not Patriotic? I think many Americans misunderstand Patriotic, or at least use it in the same way the Communists did in World War II - The Great Patriotic War, where Stalin marched thousands of them to their deaths, and people had little choice but to follow.

As a Brit I'm always having these sorts of Americans shove down my throat about Free Speech and how they are the best in the world, but the minute anyone expresses a view they do not agree with they brand them traitors... is it not over simplistic to say - You are either with me or against me?

I don't support Bin Ladden one bit, we should take action against him, but that doesn't mean that I am willing to let G W Bush become the dictator of the USA where I beat up anyone who speaks out against him.

I am a nice woman but the devil in me has longed for informed, razor-sharp, intelligent scathing -- as long as there was full awareness of an opposite. Your publishing of the Dalai Lama's message reassures me, and I can glory, without guilt and with many guffaws, in reports on Pres. Moron, et al. For a moment, it helps to take away some of the immense frustration of our beyond-belief leadership plight.

Re the 15-billion dollars to the airlines, here is an idea.: In a great "Celebrate America!" campaign, let the government give away fifteen million dollars worth of vacation tickets,to destinations within the US. The tickets could be allotted alphabetically, or divided pro- portionately by state -- some simple, fair system so that everyone could have a fair chance at a free vacation. The planes would fly nearer to full than empty, resorts and hotels could survive this transitionary cycle, jobs kept -- and best of all, the mood of the entire country would rise, uplifted by a means that is sane and egalitarian.

It doesn't matter who thought this up (a humanitarian, Aquarian genius, of course!) If you think it a worthy idea, please help me spread it around and on to people who can make it happen.

Wake up and use some logic, people! This message goes to the person (webmaster, I guess) who responded to one of the liberal messages with the word "subliminable" (a non-existent word, I might add - just another piece of evidence testifying to the lack of education of so many democratic liberals out there - try "subliminal"). I could write pages upon pages about the debate over the presidency, so I will pick just one or two elements to keep this short enough. President Bush's (excuse me, in your language, MORON, as if you couldn't come up with a better word from your pitiful vocabulary bank, and why the need for capital letters? Do the uneducated, MORON liberals need it spelled out in big letters?) tax plan makes logical sense to those of us who are educated and use reason and logic to figure out problems. The liberals or so-called "communist Democrats" claimed that under Bush's plan, 1% of Americans (who are wealthy) would receive 50% of the tax benefits. You liberals just don't get it through your thick skull and lame brain, do you? Yes, this group may receive 50% of the tax benefits, but guess what? That 1% also PAYS 50% of the income taxes in this nation. They would only be receiving a proportional amount of what they pay, just as everyone else does. I don't know why low-income, uneducated people (many of whom are Democrats) think that they should get a huge refund when they hardly pay any taxes. You can only get back what you put in. By the way, just a final note before closing, do you realize that roughly 60-65% of Democratic voters have a high-school diploma at best, whereas roughly the same percentage, if not a bit more, of Republicans have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university? Think about it. And yes, I have spelled every word CORRECTLY and used perfectly logistical syntax and stylistics in this letter, so do not classify me as part of the MORON group! Logic, people! It is true, though, that educated people are forced to actually think for themselves! Quelle horreur!

Contrary to your assertion, the top one percent of taxpayers pay twenty-three percent of the taxes collected, but receive forty-three percent of the tax cut. In your own half-witted treatise, you espoused the notion of proportional tax relief but unfortunately, you did not check your facts. We agree with you, we are all being screwed.

It takes a whole lot of integrity to ignore the plight of one hundred thousand laid off airline industry workers while bravely handing airline executives fifteen billion taxpayer dollars. It takes a whole lot of integrity to continually change the rationale for your tax cut to suit the nation's current mood. While you're riding high on the previous President's economic success, you can say it's because the gummint has too much money. While the economy is slipping, you can say it's for economic stimulus, and finally when terror strikes, you can somehow rationalize it as a defense against terrorism, or even anthrax! Upon viewing your website, I found it to be an accurate depiction of what being a liberal is all about; using lies and exaggeration in an attempt to sway the American public into adopting views which they normally would not accept.

When it really comes down to it, the left wing is really just an extension of socialism. The left wishes to take power and control from the hands of its rightful owners, the people, and give it to the federal government. Tax increases, unnecessary regulation and Constitution ignoring legislation are the tools of this work.

While some of the left's persuasion has been successful in the past, the American public is becoming increasingly fed up with politicians like Clinton and Condit. Even in his first year in the Oval Office, President Bush has clearly raised the bar when it comes to leadership, commanding a 90% approval rating. Not bad I'd say for a president who entered the office with no clear mandate.
